Singapore Stickfighting Challenge (SSFC) 2016

SSFC 2016 is Singapore’s very first inter-martial arts tournament for stickfighting. Hosted by Lightning Arnis Singapore, this competition provides a platform for contestants to showcase stickfighting styles from their respective martial arts backgrounds.

Date and venue

The tournament will take place from 12th to 13th November 2016, at Tanglin Community Club, 245 Whitley Rd, S(297829).

Schedule

Saturday, 12th November  Rules, regulations and scoring system briefing for judges, referees and participants
Certificate of Attendance and Achievement will be presented to attendees.

Competition & Prize Ceremony
*Dinner will be provided.

Sunday, 13th November CMAA Close Quarter Self-Defense Semilar,
conducted by Master Glen Gardiner (Cacoy Doce Pares Eskrima World Federation).*Equipment, lunch and refreshment will be provided.

*Limited to first 50 registered participants

Who can attend?

The event is open to all weapon-based martial arts associations, clubs and schools who are trained in weapons and wish to compete in full contact sparring.

The grouping and order of matches will be announced two weeks before the competition.

Rules & Regulation

Guidelines on rules, regulation and scoring systems will be provided upon confirmation of application.

Registration Details

Closing date: 31st October 2016

Registration fees: S$65.00 per category, or S$95.00 for all events.
An extra 50% fee is applicable for any application made after registration closing date.

Demo @ National University of Singapore, 2015 | Stickfighting with Kicks

Arnis predominantly employs hand techniques while using the lower body mainly for footwork and sweeping during takedown. In this 2015 seminar for NUS students, Guro Andrew and Leng Kee explored the various ways of incorporating kicks as a follow-up to defense-counterattack drills.

Kilat Senjata receives awards from Tanglin Community Club (People’s Association)

On the 18th of February 2012, eight (8) members were given awards by Tanglin Community Club (People’s Association) during the Annual Appreciation night for instructors and members.

State Minister Lui Tuck Yew (RAdm) and Tanglin Community Club Chair Mr. Chua Lai Teck (BBM) were on hand to give the awards that evening.  Three instructors from Kilat Senjata (Lightning Arnis Singapore) received the coveted Achievement Awards. Two other instructors received Long Service Awards while three very active members were recognized for their valuable contributions to Kilat Senjata

Lightning Arnis Singapore Cup 2011 – Kilat Senjata (Lightning Arnis Singapore) vs. Combined Martial Arts Academy (CMAA), Jakarta

Lightning Arnis Singapore Cup 2011

The Lightning Arnis Singapore Cup 2011 proved to be a fitting year-end capstone for the history of Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) in Singapore. On the 12th of Nov. 2011, fighters from Combined Martial Arts Academy (CMAA), Jakarta led by their charismatic Chief Instructor Master Glen Gardiner visited Singapore to spend a day of highly-competitive stick-fighting tournament with Kilat Senjata (Lightning Arnis Singapore). No less than the Chairman of the Tanglin Community Club, Mr. Chua Lai Teck, BBM graced the occasion. The VIP guest for the tournament was His Excellency Nathaniel Imperial, Consul-General of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore.

Skills Exchange Workshop: Introduction and Appreciation of the Different Fighting Styles

A day after the highly-competitive LAS Cup, on the 13th of Nov., Kilat Senjata and CMAA engaged in a Skills Exchange Workshop with the objective of providing to the various clubs an introduction and appreciation  of their different fighting styles. CMAA Master Glen Gardiner conducted a three-hour session with the Kilat Senjata Singapore group sharing his vast experience and expertise in unarmed combat. Kilat Senjata (LAS) Chief Instructor Vicente “Enteng” Reyes spent three hours with the CMAA Jakarta group sharing with them the fundamental principles of Lightning Scientific Arnis International (LSAI) as well as introducing the CMAA fighters to the distinctive yet practical weapons combat applications of LSAI.

Kilat Senjata Cup 2011 – Goodwill Meet-up with United Arnis (Singapore)

Kilat Senjata Cup in year 2011 proved to be an historic event. Kilat Senjata (Lightning Arnis Singapore) staged a friendly tournament with United Arnis Singapore (with Chief Instructor Robert Guerrero). The tournament had two phases (padded stick and live cane formats) adopting modified World Escrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) rules. It was held at the Kilat Senjata Main Gym – Tanglin Community CLub on the 30th of October 2011 from 0900 till 1200 in the afternoon.
